1. Entry is open to any person who wishes to participate and it is not necessary to be a member of a Virtual Airline.
2. This adventure is conducted by Bluegrass Virtual Airline and is intended to be a fun event for the enjoyment of persons interested in flying aircraft using a flight simulation program.
3. Persons wishing to enter this event must make application using the form provided in the links on this site. All applications must be fully completed. Incomplete applications will be returned for completion. On acceptance, each pilot will be allocated an ID number which MUST be quoted on all flight reports and in all correspondence.
4. Pilot ID's will be posted on the Pilots Roster page as soon as practicable after receipt. The organisers do not guarantee that an ID will be posted by a given time however, if an ID is not posted at least 24hrs after submission of application, pilots are asked to email the Event Director and not submit a further application unless requested.
5. The event divided into a number of sectors spread over 15 days and each sector is given a date and time for the flight. It is not necessary for pilots to complete each sector on the date nominated however:
(a) Flight Reports must contain the nominated flight date.
(b) Pilots are to make their own flight plans from the information supplied for each sector.
(c) Set you FS time/date and weather as stated for the sector.
(d) Your flight times are to be block times {engine start to engine shut down} This is to include taxi time for take-off, engine run-up for Mag and Prop checks, and upon landing taxi to the gate/wharf.
6. The recommended aircraft for use in this event is the Bluegrass PBY5A Catalina available for download from this site. You may choose to fly another amphibian.
7. This is NOT a race but a test of each pilot's navigation and aircraft handling skills. No winner(s) will be declared by the Event Director however the winners of the event will be those pilots who, at the end of the event, achieve what they believe to be their best possible performance.
8. Pilots not satisfied with their results on any particular sector are permitted to re-fly that sector prior to submission of a Flight Report.
9. Flight reports may be submitted at the completion of each sector of the event or at the end of each days flying however a separate Flight Report must be submitted for each sector. It is imperative that times be submitted using Hours and hundredths of hours. i.e. 1 hr 15 min = 1.25 simply divide the total minutes by 60 and round to two decimal places. Fuel usage should be submitted in gallons. (Obtained from the aircraft...fuel menu) Failure to give this information correctly will result in the Flight Report being returned for correction.
10. Flight hours will be updated as often as possible however the organizers do not guarantee any updates will be applied at any particular time.
11. Pilots may submit small screenshots in .jpg or .gif format along with a brief caption of any items of interest observed or encountered during the event for inclusion in The Eyes Have It page if they so wish however the organizers have no obligation to post any such pictures etc.
12. The organizers have provided a pilots forum where pilots participating in this event may leave comments, messages etc., for other pilots and generally discuss their progress in the race. This facility is not provided as a means for posting messages to and/or from the organizers however bragging about performance and participation issues at the expense of other competitors is not only allowed but expected.
14. This event is intended purely as a fun event for all participants. There is no obligation legal or otherwise on the part of the organizers to conduct this event to its conclusion. The organizers cannot be held responsible for any matter or thing which may arise from the conduct of this event.
