Off 0730 heading 059 Climbing to 7500' , mileage 1168 to Kodiak.
We will run between island groups. First one we will pass off to our right is Adak. VOR 115.1 NDB 347
Dutch Harbor VOR 113.9 NDB 283
Cold Bay (our alternate) VOR 112.6 NDB 341
Port Henry VOR 109.5 NDB 371
Kodiak VOR 117.1 NDB 394
I understand there is some great scenery for Alaska. Don't know if is for FS2K. I prefer to fly the southeast and Caribbean.
Level at 7500'
There are many small islands down there to our right. I have no idea as to their names. Generally speaking they only show the names of an airport, VOR, NDB etc.. If you have heard of the Pribilof Islands they ahead, the next land you will see.
We have passed Adak.
So far the only VOR active is Shemya.
Pribilof Islands (St. George) NDB 399, VOR 114.9 straight ahead. Pribiloff VOR is active.
Port Heiden VOR 113.0 will be next
Kodiak 117.1
Cold Bay VOR 110.3 active.
About 120 miles to Port Heiden
Kodak airport data:
VOR 117.1 Elev. +73'
RWY Length ILS Heading
7 7562
25 7562 110.9 250
10 5400
28 5400
18 5011
Port Heiden VOR active and straight ahead. Coast line straight ahead.. Kodiak VOR active, right on course. Over the coast SNOW? Did you expect different?
" Out of the soup the pilots swoop - Through snow and fog, asleep, Gadgets that work when eyelids droop. Can gently land the heap."
Kodiak Island right front -- The Bar's there are bigger than the Bar's Davy Crocket slew.
Crossing Kodiak coastline.
Starting our descent to 2100'
Turning down wind leg
Sure wish I had IAP's for Alaska.
Turning base, have the ILS, turning final. Have the runway.
Hell-o-o-o-o Kodiak!
