KDFW  Dallas   -  KMSY  New Orleans

Off at 0930, Climbing to 550' on a heading of 130 deg.  Our course today will take me over some familiar areas and bring back many memories from WWII.

We will fly over Lufkin, Texas where 25 of my men ands myself lived while we built air to ground gunnery ranges and bombing ranges for the newly under construction B-17 base,  Alexandria Army Air Base, near Alexandria, La.  I sure loved the people of Lufkin and appreciated the way they treated my men.

Level 5500'

Over Lufkin in East Texas,  flying over Alexandria - Esler Regional Airport, formerly Alexandria Army Air Base, where I was the Asst Engineer.  Alexandria was a fine city which I liked very much.  Turning southeasterly, smell the Cajun Cookin' ?

Mississippi just off the left away.  Baton Rouge 45 mile ahead.  There really are a few places I have not been and Baton Rouge is one of them.

10 mil;e from Reserve VOR, starting our descent to 2000'  turning to our base leg .  Have the ILS   Turning final,  runway in sight.

Bon Jour New Orleans, Sa Va?
