08:45 climbed to 9,000' flew heading of 85 deg keeping mountains
off to my left. Near Ontario I turned north and flew through the Cajon
pass then past the mountains turned to 58 deg until I saw the Colorado
River. I was north of Laughlin/Bullhead City and proceeded to Kingman
using the NDB (the adf needle doesn't register to the left of center! so you
have to have the destination either straight ahead or to the right)
Crossed over the last ridge and descended to Kingman. I was late!
arriving at 11:31am PT FS clock showed 12:31 MT (I think during Daylight
Time it would be correct)
Von Sennet, 11-02, tat-22, Ford, 2.72, bgas001, 2nd attempt
Glendale Ca to Kingman 10 min late. Flew 80 deg then turned north
through Cajun Pass (north of San Bernardino) then 80 deg when clear of
the mountains. cruise at 9,000' When intercepting Kingman NDB (I put a
slaved adf on the panel) Headed direct to Kingman. Passed north of Needles
Von Sennet, 11-02, tat-22, Ford, 2.40, bgas001, Last try at
Glendale-Kingman
9 min early. Flew 80 deg- climbed to 9,000' had to dodge south of a
mountain east of San Bernardino. Passed north of Palm Springs.
Intercepted Kingman NDB and followed it straight in on a heading of 33 deg to
runway 32. Nice flight. Flew faster than the recommend 90mph
cruise, was closer to 120mph most of the flight. Probably need to do 110
to make the schedule.
Von Sennet, 11-03, tat-21, Ford, 2.72, bgas001, Departed Kingman 1506 MT
(1406 PT)hdg 212 deg cruise 9000'
after 1 hour turned to 260deg until intercepting Glendale NDB Flew
through Banning Pass. Approached on 270deg bearing until passing El Monte, then
turned to 240 deg. when ndb showed 300 deg (4min indicating time to
Glendale was 4min also) I turned to 300 and flew to Glendale arriving 16:49 PT
Real weather thoughs in Smog from Banning to LA. Didn't exist in 1930,

Von Sennet, 11-15, d66-hilo, comet 4c, 6.80, bgas001, What a comet at Delta Alaska? Yep thats where fs2002 started me, so I took off with full flaps and flew off the bluff over the river. Didn't even sink any. Flew direct to Hilo Intl Hawaii at 37,000' and at mach 0.80 Half way there the fuel seemed to be a little short of what was needed so I reduced to mach 0.70 On arrival flew over the airport at 6,000' then turned left downwind for RW 26. Turned on ATC and contacted tower, was cleared for a left base approach to RW26. 14 miles out turned to base and intercepted glideslope and localizer. Nice plane.

Got tired of the fuel selector without an "all" position so I copied
the one from the ford tri-motor. Makes it a lot nicer to fly
without having to balance the fuel weight.
Jon Carlson, 11-11-29, M17P, BGA Ford, 11.13, bgas012, Started off alright but ran into rain for first half a day. Visibility down to less than 5 miles. Those mountains sure are tall! Had to keep altitude under 10,000 ft as this Ford's cabin is not pressurized. Sure glad I didn't find any box canyons today!
R Hoot Hooten, 11/24, FLTBAL 5, Navy R-4D, 14.60, BGAS016,
Hello Capt Smith. Well I flew the frist leg of the Navy flight for the
Berlin airlift. What a long haul. I flew it in real time. I
could get up walk around the house and fight with my son over all of my time on
the computer. LOL I can only guess how tired the crews were when
they arrived at Oakland in 1947. It was interesting tried to do some real
navagation, but not so sure it was that great, as I was north of the bay
several miles. I did have a lot of wind at 7000' from 270 at 45-50 miles
per hour. Had 900' and some fog at Oakland when I landed, that was
fun! I left the ground at Barbers Pont at 0755 and touched down in
Oakland at 2359. I will fly the rest of the flights to Germany, maybe my
navigation will get better. I took some pictures but not sure how or
where to submit them to the airline?
