Subject: GAAR sector 42

No YCNF airport or intersection.  Also no YMBL airport, just YMBL

intersection in FS-2002 data base.

All of Austrailia looks like "outback" in FS-2002 scenery database mate!

Regards,

(or as the Palmies sez: Cherrio!)

GAAR Pilots are over-stressing the folks at WestCoastATC.

If you have a problem establishing a callsign read the tutorial.  Links are on

The kneepad has been updated.  The link to Sector 45 was wrong.

Feb 11, 2005 Update  (5 k)  Unzip into your main Flight Simulator 9 folder.

Reports from pilots:

The altitudes in Sector 21 are a bit wrong

10500 ft was stated in sector report This is wrong

as I found out You have to be 14000 ft to clear the mountains enroute

-----------

The FS Nav. Plan for sector 14 lists the Townsville VOR/DME three times. If you follow this plan you will see a lot more of the sector than you want.

----------------

02-02-05

A report has been received that Devonport was misspelled in the briefings.

It will be corrected in the on-line Sector Briefings and in the download for the kneepad briefings later today.

A report has been received that the FSNavigator plan for Sector 11a and 11b is the same.

Bluegrass Pilots:

I will post your G.A.A.R. hours on the Bluegrass Rosters once at the end of each month until further notice:

Do not report them any where other than on the G.A.A.R. Flight Reports page.

DC-3 Airways pilots:

DC-3 Airways would prefer for you to submit one pirep at the end of the event.

There will be a page with statistics soon.   It will have a running total for each pilot and will remain on the web-site until G.A.A.R. 2006 opens for business.

gaar028 reports that sector 26 has a terrain obstruction:

G'Day Captain Bill.
Pilot 28 reporting. Captain I have flown many of the sectors in GAAR5 and would like to report that there is a fault in sector26 [Gurney to jackson Port Moresby], I am flying on autoPilot, sticking to height restrictions and have found that there is not anough height to get over last mountain before first waypoint [Safia Airport] to clear you have to go to [12000Ft] not [10500Ft] am injoying my flight in GAAR5 and thank you all.

Looking over the pireps for Sector 1 it is apparent that a considerable number of pilots don't understand what to report for the waypoint times.

Each waypoint should be reported as the number of minutes since brake release.

Thus  40 for the first and any number less than 40 for the second is impossible.

An example is:  68 minutes total

40 at waypoint 1    59 at waypoint 2

I also noticed an pilot that shows the same time at waypoint2 as the total for the flight.   Either he crached into the DPO VOR or he doesn't understand either.

January 30th

Pilot Application and Roster "real-time" systems are on-line.

Still a few things to fix with "Flight Reports"

Pilots who signed up and thought their pilot numbers where gaar234 - gaar237 have been changed to gaar235 - gaar238

Pilots who had a "to be decided" should email me there aircraft selection.

Those who already have your aircraft has not been added to the "real time" roster yet, but I have it.

gaar-237  When entering your data, I had to enter something for aircraft.  When I get your nominated aircraft I will change it to that.

Capt Rob is taking a survey.  Check the forum titled "Cruise Speeds"

The following pilots have registered with WestcoastATC but have not “joined” their callsign to Bluegrass Airlines.   To do this log in, then click “Pilots Start Page” then “Join Virtual Airline” page down to Bluegrass and click the join airline button.  The next time I log in I will approve it and send you the teamspeak instructions and password.

Pilots who have indicated they will fly “Multiple Aircraft”  will need to register for each aircraft.

Pilots who have indicated “To be decided” will need to decide before their first flight.

01-24-2005

The kneepad modifications page has been updated, along with the downloads fo the Default FS 9 kneepad mod, and the DCA Kneepad mod.

If you have already download the kneepad mods there are small update files to download.

These will add WestcoastATC 24 Hour Free Server 1 and 2, and the Gaar2005 Weather Report to your kneepad in addition to the Sector Briefings.

-------------------

01-19-2005

All pilots:  any communications with headquarters need to have your pilots ID included.

Pilots gaar135 thru gaar139 please send me an email.  I lost your email addresses and need to rebuild my records.    bill@billvons.com           please put your gaar### in the subject line.

---------------------

01-18-2005

Some of the Northern Territory Intersections used in the GAAR2005 rally don't appear in FSNav , although they appear in the FS9 flight planner.

The missing intersections download will put markers into FSNav for the BRLSC & NGUEB (Sector 33) and NGUWG (sector 34 intersections).

--------------

Regarding Multi-Player:  If you are already signed up with WestcoastATC you don't have to sign up for a gaar### call sign.  You can use your bga?### call sign.

If you're a pilot for another airline on WestcoastATC, you can fly with your current callsign.  Just let me know and I will send you the password for the Bluegrass TeamSpeak channel.

The credits page has been updated.  Pilots of virtual airlines who don’t have links, may submit the links to me at bill@billvons.com

The PDF Sector Briefing download had a minor mistake.

Sector 4 was really a second copy of Sector 6.

It has been corrected.

If you already downloaded the package, click below to get a small

Download of the corrected Sector 4

The rules page has been modified.  The correct airport code for the shortest field is YKMB

Also the instructions for filing flight reports have been removed, pending completion of the

New “real-time” pirep system.

----------------------

01-15-2005

Questions have been made regarding the scheduling and time requirements for submitting pireps:

Most pilots will fly starting on Feb 1st and fly every 2nd or 3rd day, taking 2 to 3 months to complete.

But there aren't any deadlines. I will continue to update the roster as long as reports continue to come in.

Since there isn't a competition element, late reports wouldn't influence any positions report or basis of

computing scores on averages.

So, just have fun and keep sending your reports.   The web-site will stay "live" until Jan 15th 2006 when

GAAR 2006 will open for applications.

A weather file is provided for FS 2002 and FS 2004.  This is provided for those that requested it during the GAAR 2004 survey.  It use is optional.  You may use any weather or none if you prefer.  It is more fun for all, if everyone uses the same weather, as a basis for comparing your perfrormance.

A Weather Briefing page will be provided before the start of the event, so that all pilots can know in advance what to expect at their destination and plan their take-off and landing runways.

-------------------------------------------

FS2002 Pilots – YJAB Jabiru does not exist in FS 2002.  Coleman Green has created it for you.  The download link is on the main page.  In FS2002 field elevation is 630 ft instead of 85 ft in FS 9.  The only way around this would have been to put the airport in a 545 ft deep hole.  If you are using mesh scenery that corrected this FS2002 defect, I hope it also included YJAB as our version would be unusable.

FS 2002 Pilots – All but one of the airports exist in FS 2002, but in many of them the parking areas are numbered differently or non-existant.   Use pilots discretion as to where to position your aircraft.  If flying on-line, move your aircraft off of the runway before connecting.
