Golden Wings 3

I finally got around to installing Golden Wings 3 by Bill and Lynn Lyons.  You install a new clean installation of FS 9 and then add GW 3 to it.  When you want to fly into modern airports you use FS 9, and the rest of the time you fly with GW3.  Needless to say, I don’t plan to be using the old FS 9 very often.

You wont find LAX on GW 3, but you will find Grand Central Terminal (Glendale, California) where the TAT Tri-Motors landed.  Most of todays major airports have disappeared and airports reminiscent of the 1930’s are in their place.

AI aircraft never fly higher than 10,000’ and consist of a variety of early aircraft such as Tri-Motors, Tavelairs, Lockheed L10 Electras etc.

My hat is off to Bill and Lynn for all the effort they have put into Golden Wings over the years.   I had the original on FS98 and GW 2 ever since.   GW 3 is worth spending the hour or so to install it.  I am enjoying the “old” environment while flying Bill & Lynn’s Waco Classic Biplane in the Vintage Fly-In Challenge.

G.A.A.R. 2006

The Great Aussie Air Rally of 2006 is winding up.  142 Pilots have completed 15 sectors and a few others are behind schedule but expected to complete all 20 sectors.

Feature of the Month

Vintage Fly-In Challenge.     Get your favorite single engine tail-dragger and join us as we fly from KRDG (Mid Atlantic Air Museum) to KFYV  (Arkansas Air Museum)  along the way we will visit several other museums.  The challenge is to do it while spending the least amount of money on fuel per pound of your aircrafts gross weight.

Welcome to New Pilots

The gaar 2006 hours for most pilots won’t show up until the rally is over.

The web-site has been very busy.  For February we averaged 576 visits a day for a total of 16,149 visits.  The domain that host the Berlin Airlift, Imperial Airways and the FS2004 Forum had 190 visits a day for a total of 5,341 visits.

Don’t forget to check out the forum and screen shot pages.

That’s all for now,

Bill Von Sennet
