I flew the MGQZ to MGRT and after flying through the saddle between the mountains and realising the altitude and distance, closed the throttle, extended the flaps and made it down to the runway where I got the surprise on runway 22. I suppose they were moving the control tower to the other side of the runway??

Still, an Air France 747 was taxiing out in front of me on an even earlier departure. After t/o clearance climbed to 7000' which took some time since my Dak was 'just' over MTOW... (don'tell anybody). Anyway, in the first day light the Venezuelan coast came in sight, nice sight with the mountain ridge on the left (got some nice mesh-files). Swithed to AUX tanks for better weight& balance behaviour of the DC-3. Arrived at Lagunillas 1hr.33 mins. later. [see screenshots] Great flight indeed.

Kept my eyes glued to the instruments watching the glideslope and localizer and reset barometer and Directional Gyro periodically. When Radio Altimeter read 100 ft AGL and all indicators were dead center, saw the centerline of the runway in time to flare slightly. Was difficult to taxi in the heavy mist. Phew!! No wonder they pay us a lot of money.

Don Moore , 07-07-05, YMML-YMAY, 71, BGAD042, MOONEY BRAVO, Melbourne to Albury                       Trial flight using Westcoast + ATOC setup.  Entered flight plan for a flight from YMML to YMAY.  Started flight vfr but weather soon changed to ifr. Resorted to VOR and GPS navigation at 4500'.  Touched down at 1332 YMAY , with parking brake "on" at 1335 local.  Total time 71 minutes.  No voice contact, though one other pilot called twice via chat window

Don Moore, 07-09-05, YBNS- CHOMP- YFLI, 78, BGAD042, MOONEY BRAVO, Filed vfr for YFLI but set world weather.  Had rainy take off, climbed above the Nims into broken cloud with better vis at 4500'.  Weather closed so ascended to 10000' but at that height it still was not vfr standard so reset sim to clear weather and descended again 4500'.  Arrived at Flinders Island in failing light, strip lighting not outstanding which resulted in messy pattern entry and landing on 14.  Brakes on for parking 1529.  Trip time 78 minutes.

George Adair, 07-09-05, 1U1-U54, 72, BEGAN012, VEGA 5C, Learned you definitely cant do it with full fuel. Left with 20% fuel and managed to rip up 6 airframes before I got it right. Did this one in clear weather. Lots of fun on the Tough man.

George Adair, 07-09-05, 4Z5-CZN, 53, BEGAN012, J3 CUB, O.K. lets just say Im a glutton for punishment. Decide to do real time weather, who would have guessed a raging downpour. 8 airframes and lots of curses to get out. I left with 14gal of fuel, full trim up and full power. Just cleared the hill, then followed the valley until I crossed the road at CZN. Guess thats how they did it back before GPS.  3 more airframes to get it on the ground with a wicked 45 degree cross wind.

George Adair, 07-09-05, 47AK-48AK, 86, BEGAN012, FORD TRIMOTOR, Took a trimotor out of this hole. So low on fuel to get out that I coasted into 48ak on fumes. Landed first time out but cant say the same for taking off. Good thing I dont have to pay for smashed airplanes. Wouldnt mind meeting the $#@%@! That put these runways in so I can kick his @#$. Got lost trying to find the runway. 4 airframes, getting better or just getting lucky.

George Adair, 07-08-05, CYEG-KBGR, 687, BEGAN012, DC4, Left Edmonton with a load of farm equipment for Bangor Maine. First time I tried real time weather for the first 2 hours of flight. Never seen so much rain and cloud cover. Took me 20 min to get to cruising at 12,000ft and spent most of the flight IFR / Instruments. A stop in Thunderbay and Toronto for fuel. I need an autopilot if I am going to do the long ones. 2 hours at the controls and Im done. Beautiful weather over Bangor and for once a straight in no bounce landing.
