----------------

Bill Von Sennet, 07-27-04, lgsp-hesp, 399, bgas001, Short S-17 Kent, Athens to Alexandria - refuel at Crete 90 mph cruise

Norm Holman, 04-07-23 FAJS-FIMP,450, bgad026, DC-6B,a,BGAD202.  First leg of the long hop over the Indian Ocean to Perth and then on to Sydney. A milk run.

Norm Holman, 04-07-23 FIMR-FIMP,100, bgad026, DC-6B,a,BGAD202. Bad start to leg 2, instructed to fly with minimum fuel to Plaine Corail (FIMR) and fuel to maximum there as there is a cyclone in the Cocos Island area and the alternate is 540 miles the other side.

Norm Holman, 04-07-24 FIMP-YPCC-YPXM,750, bgad026, DC-6B,a,BGAD202. After landing on the postage stamp runway, refueling to max and taking off, the worst fears were realised when I was diverted to Xmas Island as Cocos Airport was closed due to a Cyclone and winds of 100 knots. Climbed to 21,500ft and leaned the engines to save fuel. We made it through some bad turbulence and landed at Xmas island on top of a hill. Tricky Approach!!

Norm Holman, 04-07-25 YPXM-YPCC,135, bgad026, DC-6B,a,BGAD202. More bad news, our agent reports that we have to go back to Cocos Island to pick up 2 passengers, one a hospital case for Perth. The Cyclone had moved on and all was 'Fine and Dandy'.

Norm Holman, 04-07-25 YPCC-YPPH,420, bgad026, DC-6B,a,BGAD202. With full tanks and running 3 hours late, I put the hammer down and got the DC-6B cruising at 250 IAS which the Flight Engineer did not appreciate. Landed at Perth in the most foul weather. This trip had so far put two new wrinkles in my forehead.

Norm Holman, 04-07-26 YPPH-YSSY,440, bgad026, DC-6B,a,BGAD202. Took off on time and all went well until Adelaide, when No 3 engine lost oil pressure and the Flt/Eng had to shut it down, mumbling this was the penalty for putting the hammer down yesterday. I had to feather the prop and reduce altitude to 14,000ft, but the old gal had a magnificent tail wind all the way and we arrived in Sydney 'On Time'.
