Flying from SCAR-SPYL,the full length of the country, made two stops 1st@sptn,2nd @spho.From spho I flew east to the coast and north to destination.Dropped two passengers @spho,topped tanks up.It was dark when I landed at Spyl. I used the Junker as a test flight.I found it to be a very good ship but, reluctant to leave the skies and land.I noticed a huge canyon at WO74"45" SO12"15".i am going to create a flight of its entire length in an Otter. Will post results.Cheers Archie.

Archie, 05/12/04, egcc-egnm-egsy-lebl and return., 660, bgak050, DH-C3  TURBO OTTER, This was a speciality flight.Carrying 6 male aircraft spotters to Barcelona, where over 500 prop aircraft from 1932-2001 were on display. We stayed overnight and returned the next day, I had to top up going and also on return thus using over 300 gals of aviation fuel. The otter was chosen due to its popularity among seasoned aircraft spotters.

Norm Holman, 04-05-08, NZCH-NZWD-NZCH, 640, bgad026, 747-400, Took a bunch of tourists to visit Antarctica. As one cannot land the 'Big Iron' at McMurdo and having no cargo, this allowed a take off from Christchurch with a full load of fuel. Left NZCH at 03.00hrs late Summer time and at 35,000ft, saw the Aurora Australis en route there. I set up for Rwy 7 at McMurdo station and reduced altitude to 13,500ft to avoid hitting Mt Erebus, which is approx 27 miles from McMurdo on the approach and was the scene of a tragic DC10 crash in 1979.  Did a low pass over the runway and then 1 hour of flying around at 7,500ft and then flew back to Christchurch. (In real-life, this flight is now being done out of Sydney by Quantas in the summer and takes 11-12 hours in a 747-400ER and they burn 150 of the 180 tons of fuel).
