In 1928, an American immigrant, Elmer J.
Faucett, and a group of Peruvian business men
joined together to found Compañía de Aviación Faucett.
This was the first commercial airline in
Peru, and one of the first in Latin America.
Initially, flights
were made from Lima to Talara to the north, and Arequipa to the south
with Stinson Detroiter F-19 aircraft. Faucett
gradually expanded to use Douglas DC-3s on the
feeder routes throughout Peru and with
Douglas DC-4s on the trunk routes.
Faucett modified single-engined Stinsons
continued to serve some of the shorter routes. These
aircraft were visually similar to the de Havilland DHC-3 Otter.
The airline ceased operations in 1997.
The
following flights
are
from
a
Faucett
timetable
of the 1950s, available from
www.timetableimages.com.
They can be flown in both FS9 and FSX.
These routes take in the full challenge of flying through and over the
Andes.
