Lufthansa - 1955

Following a little local difficulty in the early 1940s, German civil
aviation restarted in early 1955 with the initial flights of Lufthansa.
There was a Deutsche Lufthansa company from the 1920s, but the company
formed in the 1950s was a new concern. At first the aircraft fleet
consisted of four Lockheed L-1049Gs and four Convair CV-340s.
Later Convair CV-440s, Douglas DC-3s and Vickers 'Viscounts' joined the
fleet as the network spread throughout Europe.
The times for
these flights are taken from the Summer 1955 timetable available at the
excellent

Flight Simulator Files
The Lockheed L-1049G,
from Manfred Jahn’s team, l1049g.zip and an update l1049g_u.zip, for
both FS2004 and FSX is available at
www.flightsim.com and
www.calclassic.com. A paint scheme for the early Lufthansa
aircraft is available from Tim Scharnhop, l1049_lh.zip.
The
Convair CV-340 is available from
www.calclassic.com. There are no Lufthansa repaints for the
CV-340 but there are for the CV-440 which followed, and they are also
available at www.calclassic.com.
Markus Hellwig produced the CV-440 paint schemes, lh_4convairs.zip,
which is available at
www.flightsim.com. His zip also includes a brief history of
the Convairs in Lufthansa service. If you don’t mind an inaccurate
registration code, it is quite easy to adapt the file names of his
CV-440 scheme to fit the CV-340. Just don’t tell him I suggested
it!.
