Linee Airee Italiane (Italian Airlines)

LAI was formed in 1947 with the assistance of TWA which held a 40% interest. At this time the airline had a fleet of DC-3 for national routes and DC-6 aircraft for longer international routes.

In 1957 LAI was merged into Alitalia to form a single airline for Italy.
