Loftleidir ’49
Loftleidir
Loftleidir was founded in 1944 by three young pilots who had returned from flight training in Canada. It operated domestic routes up to 1952, alongside routes joining Iceland to North America and Europe.
Aircraft
operated by Loftledir on domestic routes included the
Douglas DC-3, Consolidated PBY Catalina, Stinson
Reliant, Grumman Goose, Noorduyn Norseman, Avro Anson and Vultee L-1 Vigilant.
