Rick Miller, 08-25-06, CYLY-CYKA, 40, bgak016, Twin Otter, I love when a plan comes together. With that so called landing I made at Lytton, it turned out to be a good plan that we waited to have breakfast.  We enjoyed breakfast of Canadian bacon and eggs, then it was up to 4500 ft. following the N. Thompson river, skimming Rt. 1 like a tour bus.  Got a good look at the Cache Creek strip up on a little plateau, and then banked right for wonderful panorama of Kamloops Lake. Good thing we had no rods or floats on the Otter, or we would still be back fishing that beautiful lake.  Landed Kamloops Rwy 8, then said so long to the tourists. On toward William lake this afternoon.

Rick Miller, 08-25-06, CYHE-LYLY, 35, bgak016, Twin Otter, Tour bus not due to leave Vancouver until after breakfast today, so we slept in late at Betsy's  then decided to head for Lytton and find a late breakfast there ourselves--then on to Kamloops to meet bus.  Wow, this is pretty country--I will try to fly back through here again.  Weather nice this morning and group is snapping pictures out of all windows.

Rick Miller, 08-25-06, CYVR-CYHE, 50, bgak016, Twin Otter, Caught a Canada Air scheduled flight Whitehorse to Vancouver on B727 freighter to bring back another new Twin Otter.  Assignment was to meet up with a half dozen tourists that wanted to short-cut their tour bus trip to Kamloops and see the sights from the air, just like the trip described by Bill Odell. Group excited to get going so we set off with prospects of good weather.  While following the river up to Hope, it seemed to fog up in a hurry and so I slithered the Otter into Hope.  Very pretty area--can't wait to see it in the morning while we all hold up at Betsys for the night.

Luke, 08-24-06, SMJP-SYCJ, 69, BGAN021, Aerostar 700, SYLD.CS06 Panel issues in Aerostar. Changed mid-flight to an A-6e Intruder which had no issues. Best ever fastjet landing...not too shabby at all. Nice plane to fly too, responds well. Touchy steering on landing and a tad unstable with full flaps but otherwise nice to fly. Like the animations. Had time to do a bit of aerobatics while don was catching. Unscheduled touch and go at Maj. Ferdinandes intl. however the runway was too short to do much but a quick touch and straight up in the a-6e

Bill Von Sennet, 08-24-05, kpih-kcod, 100, bgas001, Boeing 247, via KIDA 111 gal  The mail will be late today. I went to kcod Yellowstone Regional instead of kwys  West Yellowstone.  I wondered why it was taking me and extra half hour!  The boss was mad as heck.  The mail went out by a truck to Great Falls.  I have to deadhead back to Salt Lake City and try again with tomorrows mail.

Paul van den Berg, 08-19-06, ENBR-EKCH, 67, bgak036, 737-700, 1st flight since ages !!! Back in the air since moving to new home in May. And it feels great.

John Franco, 08-24-06, KSBP-KLAX, 62, BGAN011, L049A, Flew by the numbers and she performed fine. The RPM's were spiky near LAX probably due to a required fast descent to line up for 25L route of choice. KSBP.FIM.SADDE6.KLAX 12000ft.

Luke, 08-23-06, SOCA-SJMP, 38, BGAN021, HU-25 guardian, Originally the flight plan was to  SYCJ however my allowable flying time before picking up my wife meant I had to cut short. When I did my flight plan I was given a 37 minute flight and after climbing to cruise altitude, gps said 1hr 5 minutes. Don agreed on landing at SJMP and carrying on another night. Impressed with the guardian. I usually stay away from lear style aircraft but the coast guard plane was great to handle & take off despite the fact that the last taxiway put me only half way up the runway for take off. Landed nicely and within the runway area and taxied smoothly to ramp to watch Don kangaroo hop his dash-8. (stunt flying)

Luke, 08-21-06, NZCH-NZOA, 46, BGAN021, Hunting percival Pembroke, Smooth flight in a nice RAF plane that easily handled the twisting turning approach and the short grass feild at NZOA.

Luke, 08-18-06, SBSM-BSCT, 58, BGAN021, IL76TD, VOR D181L & PNH. Nice heavy steering plane although as with a ot of the cold-war productions, slow on the climb. I originally made my flight plan for 5500 metres but I would have needed more than the 368 miles to climb to that level. SLow & cumbersome on the turns like I like it which was good because it helped as I was helping two new guys on server on approach and my two waypopints were set 1 minute apart. Landed nicely, pulling up just after the second to last taxiway... How many times have I managed to pull up directly after a taxiway? would push-back be cheating?

Luke, 08-18-06, SARM-SBSM, 26, BGAN021, Howard 500, Nice flight in a nice plane once again. I guess it's in the preference. Some guys like smaller planes but I find some of the mainstream small and too light on the stick. I liked the howard, cumbersome and heavy steering. Pulled up nicely and took off short.

Luke, 08-17-06, SAEZ-SUMU, 47, BGAN021, AC50, CD06 BC(VOR) Flight to join Don, Barry & others at MonteVideo From Buenos Aires. A historical sight seeing trip. Buenos aires and MonteVideo are famous for harbouring HMAS Exeter, Ajax & Achilles & German pocket-battleship Admiral Graf Spee after the 'Battle of the river Plate', the first battle, first sea battle of WWII & last great sea battle. The story behind the harbours is that the allies harboured in Buenos aires harbour when Graff Spee docked in MonteVideo for repairs. Both harbours gave the ships 48hrs under neutral harbouring laws. The allies, knowing they couldnt beat the battleship put propaganda over the radio that the british fleet had assembled in the river including the HMAS Ark Royal. The german captain thought he was out-numbered and scuttled his ship after disembarking his crew and went down with his ship. Landing at SUMU was fun, a grass runway. I did a departure from their tonight and found that there was a bitumen runway as well.

Luke, 08-14-06, SCIE-SAEZ, 36, BGAN021, SR-71 Blackbird, The Blackbox from the wreck sorta went something like "Argentina control, Have no engine control at 9000 metres, current airspeed 2,300 KIAS, landing at first available runway" Sorta circled for what seemed like forever, sometimes inverted, occasionally verical, most of the time seeming like the aircraft was hanging off the port engine. Tried shutting down but wouldn't let me. Lined up Santa-Rosa many times and General Pico but at the speeds I was doing, airports wizzed by and I never got to sight any of them. I dropped my landing gear, openned my chute, full flaps and everything I could think of to produce drag and weight. I d have no idea how I thought I would land at all at 2000 + KIAS but decided on a chute landing with full flaps on my belly because the speed might have ripped my wheels off and broken my brakes. Yes indeed belly seemed the way to go. With all my attempts to produce drag, I only slowed to 1500 KIAS but as soon as I raized gear it sped up again to 2500. I asked my VR program, Flight assistant to shut down engines and I'm sure it said "no way sir, flight assistant is bailing" I eventually bumped into a speeding planet at 2563 KIAS and in reality, would have left a crater that would have had scientists in 1000 years totally baffled.

Luke, 08-10-2006, SAWU-SCCC, 52, BGAN021, C-17, wow, what a rush. I didnt quite expect a 90' x 2500' runway from what the world map told me but that's what I got. Terry Wright, 08-08-06, KMFR-KMCC, 104, bgak007, B247, Nice weather in NW again today. KMFR to RBL to ILA went fine...changed heading to 175 (as per our published route) over ILA to head for MCC, but soon realized that heading was taking me to the coast, changed heading to 075 which lined me up with Sacramento.

Bill Hendrix, 08-08-06, KPNS-KATL, 70, bgas046, EMB-170, Flew IFR using real wx and the Lagrange One arrival,  when ATC requested that I change heading just outside Montgomery, I requested a different approach ( the ATL transition).  They then allowed me to continue on using the Lagrange One arrival and only gave me altitude changes untill I was within about 7 miles of ATL VOR, then they handed me off to tower and told me to fly left downwind to rwy 26R.  First time I ever asked for a different approach. Sure beats getting vectored all over the place.

Return flight after loading up Ed and clothes, roll away tool chests and a dead goat.

MH Luke, 08-05-06, KMFR-KMCC, 82, bgam010, B247D, This was a bit of a disaster for me, but since I tryed it four times I'll post the one WCATC gave me some time on. About twenty minutes out of KMCC someone called EOW (pronounced EEEEEE...OW I suppose), came on the session and a couple of minutes later someone collided with me I didn't see. Midair collision. I think I was targeted.

John Franco, 08-04-06, AUK3-AUK3, 105, BGAN011, DC3, I flew many planes in this session with the DC3 as my first choice. The object was to takeoff to the south from a bush field plateau, fly around a giant hill with a right turn, and pick a clear spot 3 NM north of the ficticious airfield. Many pilots uh "crashed and burned". Flight was attempted on the WCATC Special Events server as part of the "Hard Landings" series

Luke, 08-01-06, LELN-LEPP, 72, BGAN021, C-133, LEVD LEOC. WCATC have placed be as landing at LELN but I know it's not true...Dunno why that happens. Flight with Don. Had to go around due to low drop to feild. Don was flying in a King Air. Matched up to the C-133 although the bigger bird wanted to climb. C-133 is easier to handle than the C-130 in my opinion although it tends to have too much power and gets in to overspeed at low revs. Touchy aircraft but still nice.

John Franco, 08-04-06, KLAX-KLAX, 103, BGAN011, DC3, I originally wanted to go to Catalina Island and make a cargo run there in support of DC3 Airways. When I was over the Island, the weather was so bad that I had to divert to San Clemente NALF. After tasking care of the paperwork for the logistics for the cargo transport, San Clemente gave me some express mail to get delivered back to LAX. But when I got back to LAX, i encountered ground delays due to the controller who had many inexperienced pilots on his plate to take care of.
