from Port Headland in quite good weather and followed the coast at 800ft to
keep below the occassional cloud. After about an hour
the weather cleaared totally and I climbed right up
to 4000ft to make the most of a good tailwind, arriving at Onslow
much earlier than hoped. An inspection of the windsock proved depressing as
even runway 12 had 21kts of crosswind at 40 degrees - not nice when you fly
finals at 35kts and land at 30, so I picked out a suitably flat piece of grass
instead. avaialble

Hummingbird, Dr Coto, leg 6. Having been delayed at Broome for a day by high winds,
finally got away in torrential rain, but within an hour had outflown
it and was keeping 80-mile beach in sight off my starboard wingtip. Strictly
speaking, it should have been my port wingtip, but lengthy flights in Icaruso at 500ft over water do NOT seem a good idea.
Eventually arrived at Port Headland, and having checked the windsock, settled
for an off-runway landing on the grass.
